Sensei Hiruta

The Maple Ridge Japanese Language Association was established by a group of Japanese-speaking mothers who hired Sensei Hiruta in 1985 to teach their Canadian children the Japanese language and culture. The school became a non-profit organization in 1988 and was run by the parent Board of Directors.

The school’s mission was to provide Japanese language instruction to school age children 5-18 years old. This past year the age limit was changed to 21 to assist students to continue their studies as they pursue post secondary education and Japanese cultural exchange.
